On October 23-24 the Russian TSO “System Operator of the United Power System” (SO UPS) met with the Cyprus TSO . The meeting took place at the Cyprus TSO offices.
SO UPS operates the Russian Transmission System with a load demand of 157.000 MW and 69 regional systems which are interconnected via overhead High Volltage lines 220-750kV. SO UPS employs approximately 7.000 people.
The meeting took place following the SO UPS invitation for cooperation and exchange of knowledge for topics of common interest, relating to the operation of electrical systems. The Russian TSO was represented by a six-member team. During the two day visit, the Cyprus TSO informed SO UPS in detail for issues of their interest. SO UPS also visited the National Energy Control Centre.
The presentations given by Cyprus TSO personnel and the warm hospitality shown by the Cyprus TSO was successfully organised. The Russian TSO with warm thanks, invited the Cyprus TSO to Russia for continuing the discussion and exchange views for the operation of the Russian electrical system, aiming to a fruitful cooperation of the two TSOs.
