Supplier Energy Mix Disclosure
Electricity Suppliers Energy Mix Disclosure is provided by Article 3 (9) of Directive 2009/72/EC for the Internal Energy Market, and Article 91 (d) of the Laws Regulating the Electricity Market of Cyprus 2003-2012, N122(I)/2003. The relevant provisions, give the consumer the right to know the fuel mix from which the purchased electricity is produced.
Energy Mix Disclosure differentiates Suppliers, thus enabling the Consumer to choose the Supplier that fits best their environmental expectations. Suppliers are obliged to publish their Energy Mix data, in comparison to national data, on the consumer electricity bills as well as on any other advertising material. They should also publish at least a reference to a source where the environmental impact of their electricity generation is presented.
The Cyprus Energy Regulating Authority (CERA) with its Decision 1279/2015, dated 20/5/2015, approved a Calculation Methodology of the Electricity Energy Mix of Cyprus and the Energy Mix of Suppliers and a Technical Manual for the Calculation of the Electricity Energy Mix of Cyprus and Suppliers and the Disclosure of Energy Mix of Electricity Suppliers.
According to the approved methodology, Guarantees of Origin of Electricity are the only form of evidence for the source of electricity. All relevant calculations are performed by Cyprus TSO, under the general overview of CERA. Suppliers have the right to appeal to CERA if they disagree with their calculated Fuel Energy Mix.
